Yves Duport - L'Intact - Pet Nat Rose - 12% - 750ml

Description: Yves farms 10 ha of vines biodynamically with great success in the Bugey, a tiny appellation of only 500 ha. He makes elegant, precise and controlled wines from Pinot, Mondeuse, Altesse (Rousette) and Chardonnay. The geology of Bugey is similar to its neighbour, Savoie – fragmented parcels of vines planted in steep slopes above the valley floor. The sedimentary soils date back to a time when dinosaurs roamed and the climate was tropical.

This wine is a 'Pet-Nat' or Pétillant-Naturel, made by bottling wine before it has finished fermenting and allowing it to continue in the sealed bottle, trapping the CO2 produced and making the wine slightly fizzy. The red colour comes from Gamay grapes which are lightly pressed to extract some colour and flavour but no tannin. 

Tasting notes : Strawberries, cherries, raspberries. Dry, wonderfully fresh and incredibly juicy. 

Food pairing : A great pairing for a rich, indulgent butter chicken curry.
