50% Grenache Blanc, 50% Marsanne

Mas des Agrunelles is situated north-west of Montpellier up on the Terrace du Larzac. Unlike the typical wines of the region, Frederic and Stephanie make delicate and subtle wines with gentle extraction. Rather than focusing on varietals, each of the 12 Mas des Agrunelles cuvees showcases the terroir of individual parcels covering 25ha and a range of soil types from fractured Jurassic limestone to red marne. Biodynamic principles are followed right down to bottling on fruit days, and when possible on the descending moon.

The grapes for the Nicot Blanc come from clay-limestone parcels in a very sheltered lowland, which is sensitive to spring frost and mildew. Direct pressed and elevage is all in stainless steel on fine lees. A robust and zippy wine that will take you to the beach in Montpellier.

Tasting notes : Citrus, zing, mineral.

Food pairing : A plate of tiny fried fish. A slice of Comté 18 Months, or Gruyère can also be a really good match.
